About the Vedic Panchang

The Panchang (पंचांग) is the traditional Hindu almanac that tracks five (panch) elements (anga) of time: Tithi (lunar day), Vara (weekday), Nakshatra (lunar mansion), Yoga (luni-solar combination), and Karana (half of a tithi). Together, these five elements determine the auspiciousness of any moment.

Our calculations use the Lahiri Ayanamsha for sidereal corrections and Swiss Ephemeris-grade astronomical positions via the astronomy-engine library. Sunrise and sunset are computed for Mumbai, India (19.076°N, 72.878°E).

Panchang is essential for determining Muhurta (auspicious timing), festival dates, Vrata (fasting days), and daily spiritual practice. Ekadashi, Amavasya, and Purnima are key tithis observed across Hindu traditions.
